Stains
Staining the wood reveal the timber natural features, ash wood is generally the best choice for a stained frames. All stains are sealed with a smooth satin clear coat.
Gallery Smooth
Our perfectly smooth satin lacquer finish is best suited for contemporary, urban artwork. The timber is sanded, carefully filled, multiple spray seal and coated to achieve a smooth finish. It is available in black, white and customs colours and is a popular choice for galleries and artist.
Painted Wood Vein
A painted wood vein is the application of solid tones obscuring the natural wood colour without sealing the veins thus enhancing the natural textural feature of the grain. The Ashwood is generally the best choice for a painted wood vein.
Custom Colours
Custom Colours can be either opaque grain or gallery smooth technique. You may choose your own colour to match with your artwork or your space. Colours can be specified to any Pantone© reference or alternatively a sample can be matched.
Weathered
Weathered wood can be layered from one to three different colours. The timber is to be used non planned, carefully hand applied from 1-3 layers of water based painting, then hand sanded to remove the excess and give this weathered effect on the wood. A final seal is then applied with a smooth satin clear coat. Non-planned ashwood is the best choice for this technique due to its natural, open veins.
Cerused Wood
Rubbed into the open grooves and pores of the wood, the whiting process brings out and highlights the wood grain. Raw Oak is the perfect wood for this technique as it has grooves open enough to fill with wax, painting to hand so as to whiten the grains. This white against caramel wood gives birth to a gorgeous, contrasty finish.
